High Altitude Simulation Study for Healthy Adults
Protocol: STUDY00007863
Full Title
Simulated Altitude: Does Normobaric Hypoxia Mimic Hypobaria
Description
Are you a healthy adult between the ages of 18 to 45 years old? If so, you may be eligible to participate in a new study from the University at Buffalo’s Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences!

The research team is running a study that is looking to learn more about how the body responds to high altitudes. They are also studying if breathing a gas might have the same impact as high altitudes.

Participants will complete 4 in-person study visits on the UB South Campus (at Main Street and Bailey Avenue). The study visits will range from 0.5 hours to 6 hours and will be completed over one week. During Visits 1 and 2, you will become familiar with the study and complete a medical exam. During Visits 3 and 4, you will be placed in a chamber for 3 hours that will be decompressed to a high altitude. You will complete surveys and have your vital signs regularly measured.

Participants will be paid $15/hour.
