Warm Water Diving Study for Healthy Adults
Protocol: STUDY00007662
Full Title
Thermal strain during simulated standby and warm water diving
Description
The University at Buffalo (UB) Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences is looking for healthy adults for an in-person study on the UB South Campus. The goal of this study is to determine the effects of a new cooling therapy on bodily response to heat during warm water diving. The results of the study may help to improve diver safety.

Participation involves completing 6 study visits on the UB South Campus (at Main Street and Bailey Avenue). These visits will take between 2 – 5 hours to complete. Participants will wear a diving suit and helmet and walk under water for 1 hour in different water temperatures. A safety diver will be present to ensure safety throughout the visits. Participants will have their heart rate/blood pressure monitored and complete several finger prick tests. They will earn $15/hour for each study visit.
