Effect of 6 week eicosapentanoic acid therapy (Vascepa) on intracellular lipid and inflammatory markers post high fat meal
Description
We are looking for adults who are obese (BMI above 30) to be in a research study. The purpose of this study is to learn how a type of omega-3 fatty acid changes inflammation in the body before and after a high fat meal.

You will be in this study for about 6 weeks. During that time, you will have two study visits, each lasting around 5 hours, where you'll eat a high fat meal and take either Vascepa (an omega-3 fatty acid) or mineral oil. Study visits will take place at 1000 Youngs Rd.,Williamsville, NY 14221.

Participants will be compensated.

Technical Description

This will be an interventional project to determine the effects of Vasepa versus mineral oil on inflammation in obese adults with high triglycerides.

Eligibility
Adults age 18-75.
Obese (BMI above 30).
LDL cholesterol of above 100 mg/dL.
Not taking any vitamins or antioxidants.
