ECMC Optimal Care for Degenerative Knee Conditions: Injection, Physical Therapy, or Injection followed by Physical Therapy
Description
The University at Buffalo (UB) Department of Orthopaedics and Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) is conducting a study for patients of UBMD Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine who have knee pain for the COPING (Choosing Optimal PT or Injection Non-operative Guidance) study. The goal of this study is to learn more about knee pain treatments to help identify the most effective therapies for future patients.

Patients of UBMD Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine will be invited to enroll in this year-long study. They will be randomly assigned (which happens by chance, like flipping a coin) to one of three groups. Group 1 will have only injections, Group 2 will have only physical therapy, and Group 3 will receive both injections and physical therapy. Participants may receive up to $80 for completing all study parts.

Eligibility
Adults aged 45 to 85 years old who are patients of UBMD Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine/Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) Have knee pain Fluent in English
