A Family-Based Approach to Treat Obesity and its Co-morbidities in Youth with Type 1 Diabetes and Their Parents
Description
The University at Buffalo (UB) Department of Pediatrics is looking for kids/teens with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and a parent to participate in a 6-month study. The goal of the study is to help kids and families to control their weight and diabetes.

Families will meet with a coach both in-person and online for 6 months to learn how to make healthy choices. They will complete surveys, measure their weight twice a week, and keep track of the different food they eat. They will earn two $15 gift cards (one for the child and one for the parent) for each in-person visit and two $10 gift cards for each online session.

Eligible families must be patients of the UBMD Endocrinology Clinic located in the Conventus Medical Center (on Main Street in Buffalo).

Eligibility
Kids/teens aged 6 to 7 years old that have Type 1 Diabetes, use and insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor, and are overweight One parent who is overweight
