Intra-subject comparison between the effect of combined phaco/Trabectome vs. phaco/Kahook dual blade on intra ocular pressure and other surgical outcomes
We are looking for people with glaucoma and cataract in both eyes for this study. The purpose of the study is to compare two devices used in glaucoma surgery.
There are lot of developments in glaucoma surgical techniques. Kahook Double Blade and Trabectome are two different devices used by Ophthalmologists to perform glaucoma surgery. In this study you will have glaucoma surgery using kahook double blade in one eye and trabectome in the other eye. You will be in this study for a total of two years, including follow up visits after your surgery. Study visits are at the Ross Eye Institute in one of their three locations in WNY (Downtown, Orchard Park, or Amherst).
Compensation is not available.
We will determine the safety and efficacy of Kahook dual blade over Trabectome in lowering intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients. This glaucoma surgery will be performed in conjunction with cataract surgery
