Everyone experiences anxiety at some point in their lives. Some people get nervous before taking a test. Others get anxious when experiencing big life changes. However, for some people, their anxiety gets in the way of their daily life. This is called Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Within the last several decades, there have been new treatments developed to help adults living with GAD. But not all adults experience relief from their GAD symptoms with current treatments. -Have taken at least two prescribed medications for their GAD without experiencing symptom relief

Description:
This study enrolls children ages 3-5 who attend certain Buffalo child care centers and their parents. This study is looking at early stressful experiences in the family and with friends at school. We are trying to find out how these experiences impact school readiness when children transition from preschool to kindergarten. We are also exploring how stressful experiences "get under the skin" and are measured in the stress hormone cortisol that we can measure in hair and saliva. Read More
