The University at Buffalo (UB) School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is conducting a study for patients currently admitted to the Buffalo General Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The goal of the study is to see if a new blood test may be able to identify the condition known as “Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia” (or “HIT”) that can be potentially fatal and cause blood clots to form in the legs, lungs, or lead to heart attack or stroke. Patients in the Buffalo General Intensive Care Unit who are suspected to have heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT)
