The University at Buffalo (UB) School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is conducting a study for patients currently admitted to the Buffalo General Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The goal of the study is to see if a new blood test may be able to identify the condition known as “Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia” (or “HIT”) that can be potentially fatal and cause blood clots to form in the legs, lungs, or lead to heart attack or stroke.
