Sleep and circadian problems in children in a PICU
Protocol: STUDY00010400
Full Title
C3PO: The Chronobiology of Critical Care, A Pediatric Observational study
Description
Sick children need good sleep for healing and recovery. However, being in a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) can be disruptive to sleep. Getting medication, nursing care, having lights on, and noise can lead to bad sleep. Children in a PICU also have more light sleep which is not as restful as deep sleep.

The goal of this study is to figure out which children in a PICU have more sleep problems. This study will also see if sleep issues in the PICU continue after discharge.

The study starts with a survey about sleep quality while healthy and then a daily survey about sleep in the PICU. Once discharged, families will complete two surveys each time at 1, 6 and 12 months.

Participants will be paid up to $60.
