Spit Collection Study for Adults
Protocol: STUDY00009715
Full Title
Saliva Collection from Non-identified Individuals for Testing
Description
Our saliva (spit) has many different functions. It can help to protect our bodies from harmful substances. It allows foods from our mouth to travel to receptors so we can taste and identify what is in our mouths. It can even help to diagnose heart problems, cancers, and skin diseases. However, there is still a lot unknown about the impact saliva may have on diagnosing and treating different diseases.

Researchers from the University at Buffalo (UB) School of Dental Medicine are interested in learning more about saliva. They are hoping to collect a lot of spit samples from adults. In the future, these samples will be used to develop new ways to diagnose and treat illnesses.

Volunteers will be in this research study for 5 minutes. They will spit a small amount of saliva into a tube.
