Study for Kids/Teens with Obesity
Protocol: STUDY00007241
Full Title
Long-term safety and efficacy of semaglutide s.c. once-weekly on weight management in children and adolescents (aged 6 to <18 years) with obesity or overweight (NN9536-4512)
Description
The University at Buffalo (UB) Department of Pediatrics is looking for kids/teens with obesity for a clinical trial. The goal of the study is to investigate the effectiveness of a new weight loss medication (Semaglutide).

Participants will be enrolled in the study for 2.5 years and will be randomly assigned (which happens by chance, like flipping a coin) to one of two groups: (1) will receive the study medicine or (2) will receive a placebo (which looks like the study medicine but does not have any active medicine). Participants will inject the study medicine/placebo once a week. They will attend regular study-related health checks at the UBMD clinic and complete regular blood draws. Study staff will discuss healthy eating habits and how to incorporate more exercise into the daily routine. Participants will keep a record of the foods they eat, exercise, and general information on the study medicine. Kids/teens will earn $50 for each study visit and parents/caregivers will earn $150 for each study visit.
