IMPORTANT
NIH HAS ANNOUCED CHANGES REGARDING PROPOSAL SUBMISSIONS BOTH HARDCOPY AND GRANTS.GOV
THESE CHANGES ARE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
- Changes made to the PHS 398
- All NIH submissions require the use of 398 forms which are dated 4/2006 which can be found at: http://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/phs398/phs398.html
- PI signature is no longer required on the 398 application. An NIH REQUIRED certification replacing PI signature on the application is included on the revised Sponsored Projects Approval Form. Because of this requirement Sponsored Projects Services will only accept the newly revised Approval Form (revised 5/06) which can be found at: http://www.research.buffalo.edu/sps/forms/#Pre-Award.
- eRA Commons User Name is a required field on the revised 398 application form. If you do not have an eRA Commons account, please contact Kate Foley at 645-2977 ext 104. If you’re not sure whether you do or you don’t have an account, contact Kate Foley at 645-2977 ext. 104.
- NIH no longer uses per cent effort to measure effort. It now uses person months. Budget Form Page 4 has been revised to reflect this change. Budget justifications also now requires effort to be reported in person months.
- The following 2 changes have been made in the requirements for including publications as appendix materials.
- Publications in press: Include only a publication list with a link to the publicly available on-line journal article or the NIH PubMed Central (PMC) submission identification number. DO NOT include the entire article.
- Manuscripts accepted for publication by not yet published or manuscripts published but an online journal link is not available, include a copy of the article with your application.
- Effective June 1st Grants.gov submissions will be required for the following applications):
- R03, R21, R21/R33, R33 and R34
