Institutional Research Service Awards (Some Institutes accept applications only once per year- ask SPA.) New Research Grants, Conferences, Career Development Awards, Program Project & Center Grants. Competing Continuations, Supplements, & Revised Grants Note: NIH has implemented postmark deadlines for all unsolicited applications and noncompeting applications. Applications will be considered on time if they are received by or mailed on or before the published receipt date and proof of mailing is provided.

PHS Programs use the PHS 398 Grant Application Form for most programs and generally adhere to the review and award schedule outlined above.

Receipt Dates:

  • Receipt dates for all investigator-initiated AIDS research grant applications are January 2, May 1, and September 1. These receipt dates are for all new, revised, competing continuation, and supplemental AIDS applications.
  • Receipt dates for Individual National Research Service Awards (fellowships) applications and Fogarty Center Senior International Fellowships are April 5, August 5, and December 5.
  • Receipt date for Foreign-funded fellowship applications through the Fogarty International Center is April 5.
  • The receipt dates for International Research Fellowships are August 1 and November 15.
