The Database for Scientific Instrumentation describes instrumentation available in shared-use Instrument Centers at the University at Buffalo and instruments in individual faculty laboratories that have an initial purchase price of $25,000 or higher. Instruments are described in three separate lists:

Every instrument in the database is described in terms of its unique capabilities, the person responsible for the instrument, the location of the instrument and whether functional instruments are available for use by others. A search engine within the database facilitates finding a specific type of instrument.
