IACUC Protocol ReviewVeterinarians will review your protocols before submission to the IACUC free of charge, to help expedite the review process. We can advise on drug dosages, anesthetic regimes, housing, and care of animals. It is recommended that researchers & technicians take advantage of this service. Protocols can be sent via email or left in mailbox in main office of CM-LAF.
Board certified (American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine) veterinarians are available to advise researchers on:
Consultations can be made over the phone, in person, or in your lab. This service is free of charge.
Veterinarians can be "hired" to perform surgery as part of a research protocol.
We can also assist, provide consultation, or provide training on surgical techniques & instrumentation. We can advise on what suture material to use, what suture pattern to use, anesthesia monitoring, equipment selection, & post operative care etc. There is no cost for advice.
Veterinarians are available to perform PMs (or necropsies). All animals that die unexpectedly are necropsied to ensure the disease-free integrity of the animal facilities. A Post Mortem report will be sent to the Principle Investigator (owner of the animal), concluding the cause of death. There is no fee for this service
Diagnosis is supplemented by lab tests (serology, bacteriology) and histopathology performed by a Board certified lab animal pathologist.
In addition, tissues can be collected or PM performed as part of a research project. Contact the CM-LAF veterinarian to arrange for this service.
