Feed
The feed used in the LAF is purchased from reputable vendors specializing in animal nutrition. All feeds are used within 180 days of mill date and 90 days of mill date if they contain vitamin C. Most feed used is purchased from Harlan Teklad or Purina both leaders in the industry. There are specialized diets for each species; below there are descriptions of and links to some of the various diets and vendors websites. For most species only one diet is used for mice, because of the strain variation some breeding and research requirements a few different diets are used in the facility. If you have any questions about specific diets or if you have a specific need please contact the facility manager.

- This diet is designed and manufactured with high quality ingredients. 2018 is a fixed formula, non-autoclavable diet containing a minimum of 18% protein and 5% fat. Promotes gestation, lactation, and consistent growth of rodents. Absence of animal protein and fish meal eliminates the presence of nitrosamines. It does not contain alfalfa, thus lowering the occurrence of natural phytoestrogens.
