When the dam bursts.
In the first minutes after disaster strikes, information pours from the scene in an increasingly turbulent flood. UB’s Center for Multisource Information Fusion is developing software that can organize and interpret in real time these massive flows of uncoordinated information coming from dozens or hundreds of sources. The work is funded by a $2.5 million grant from the U.S. Air Force Office of Scientific Research. The center is also developing information fusion software for battlespace applications. This is just one of the many ways the University at Buffalo is doing its part to take the nation’s homeland security to new levels.
