About Us

The Office of Economic Development (OED) helps the University at Buffalo achieve its full impact as a major economic engine as envisioned in the UB 2020 strategic plan. We are an essential partner for business leaders and entrepreneurs who are helping to build the innovation economy of Buffalo Niagara and New York State.
OED facilitates ready access to programs, services and faculty expertise by:
- Promoting university resources to foster industry collaborations
- Convening the wide array of academic and service units within UB that support economic growth
- Advancing initiatives that increase the number of minority- and women-owned business enterprises doing business with the university
The mission of the office aligns with State University of New York Chancellor Nancy Zimpher’s strategic plan for all institutions within the SUNY system to cultivate entrepreneurial thinking by helping new and existing businesses innovate, prosper and grow.
